Trailblazer Pilot Amelia Earhart | Sky Combat Ace

Sky Combat Ace would like to pay tribute to a lady just as crazy as us-Ms. Amelia Earhart. In 1928 she made the decision that would change her life, Earhart became the first woman to fly over the Atlantic Ocean. She flew all the way from Newfoundland to Wales in about 21 hours in a Fokker F7 called “Friendship.”



Though she was too under experienced to take the reins during this trip, (or just lacked the confidence to take over since she didn’t have a cool call sign-because let’s be honest, that makes every pilot feel more confident) she is still considered one BAMF (use your imagination for what that call sign means) chick! Not only did she love flying, but four years later she (wo)manned up and flew herself.

Earhart has earned many achievements that make her someone worth reckoning with: First woman to fly the Atlantic solo (1932), first woman to fly nonstop coast-to-coast across the U.S. (1933), and woman’s speed transcontinental record (1933), just to name a few. Earhart also flew competitively, in things like the Woman’s Air Race Derby where she always came in first… the same place every fighter pilot who works here at SCA comes in 

Sky Combat Ace celebrates her today because she was a risk-taker …and we love ladies that can be a bit dangerous. We also love the ladies that love planes, so it is really a double whammy here! So thanks Earhart, Sky Combat Ace appreciates your efforts and shares the love of flying!
