True North Modular Holster Adapter (MHA) Review

True North Concepts Modular Holster Adapter Review.

By: Travis

I was recently given the opportunity to check out and review the True North Concepts Modular Holster Adapter (MHA). The True North MHA was something I’ve had my eyes on for a while now so needless to say, I was pretty excited for this opportunity.

Read our True North MHA Press release here.

Why The True North MHA:

I’ve been carrying a firearm in a duty holster for about 12 years now. One major downfall for most duty holsters, including Safariland (what I use and what my employer issues), is that the belt adapter has too much extra space for the belt that it sits on, thus creating wiggle room and shifting of the holster. That’s where the True North Concepts Modular Holster Adapter (MHA) comes in.

It is a true game changer….

There are a few reasons I wanted to start using the True North MHA. The extremely durable construction and design, it has a smaller footprint to take up less real estate on my belt, and the number one reason which I touched on above, it can be tightened down so there is ZERO shifting or wiggling on the belt.

This ensures my weapon sits in the exact same spot, all the time, and I don’t have to worry about it moving around or having a different cant to it. I prefer my holster to sit with a negative cant and there are only a handful of companies that even make that possible. The MHA allows you to do just that in addition to its other awesome features.

MHA Specifications:

The MHA is made of rugged, non-ferrous DFARS grade 6061-T6 aluminum and is type 3 MIL-SPEC hard coat anodized. It features mounting holes allowing for a 10 degree negative cant, directly vertical, or 10 degree forward cant. The MHA also has three different mounting height positions so you really can position your holster to your exact preference.

The MHA is compatible with any “three-hole” pattern Safariland style holsters and any of the other holster companies that use this best proven mounting pattern. The MHA is also compatible with a thigh strap (with an additional add on adapter). To make things even better, it is still compatible with the use of a QLS fork. The MHA is offered in black, dark earth, and OD green.
First Impressions:

True North Modular Holster Adapter (MHA)

Upon receiving the True North MHA and opening the package, I was impressed with the variety of hardware it included. With many other products, if you require different types of mounting hardware for different types of gear, you often must choose that specific hardware and are left with just that. That is the not the case with the MHA. Inside the package contains all you need, for multiple different gear set ups, with specific mounting hardware in color coded baggies (referenced in the detailed included instructions).

Using the appropriate baggie included I was able to mount my Safariland QLS (personal preference) to the MHA and then the MHA to my belt within a few easy minutes. I slid my holster on, shifted the adapter exactly where I wanted it to sit, and tightened the belt loop attachment screws down. Now my holster is exactly where I want it to be and isn’t moving anywhere. This process was super easy, everything needed was included (minus a screwdriver), and it just took a few minutes.

Testing:

After doing some weapon presentations and dry practice I could feel the benefits immediately. The next day I hit the range and spent a couple hours training with a lot of drills focusing on drawing from the holster. I love finally having an option that keeps the holster/weapon in the same position constantly and provides a negative cant, especially in one package. The MHA maintained its positioning without fail and will be remaining on my duty belt from here on out.

I’v now been using the True North MHA for approximately 4 months now and its still my go to holster adapter and I don’t see that changing anytime soon!

Whether you are Law Enforcement, Military, or a civilian that runs an external holster on your duty belt, battle belt, or competition belt, I highly recommend trying out the True North MHA.

You won’t regret it.

Optional MHA Accessories:

True North Concepts also offers the following accessories for the MHA:

  • True North MHA Leg Strap Adapter
  • True North MHA G-Code Adapter
  • MHA Black Hawk Omnivore Adapter
  • The MHA is also compatible with the 9Toes Design LLC. Vastus System

Where to buy:

The MHA runs only $75.00, visit TrueNorth-USA.com for ordering, and check them out on Instagram at @TrueNorthConceptsLLC
